VCF Vaginal Contraceptive Film is a thin, dissolvable film designed to help prevent pregnancy when inserted correctly before intercourse.
Each film contains 28% nonoxynol-9, a spermicide that acts on sperm cells to help prevent fertilisation.
Unlike hormonal contraception, VCF contains no contraceptive hormones. The small films are individually sealed, convenient to store and require no separate applicator.
VCF contains nonoxynol-9, a spermicide that disrupts sperm cell membranes and reduces their ability to fertilise an egg.
Once inserted high into the vagina, the film dissolves and releases the spermicide.
Allow at least 15 minutes for the film to dissolve fully. A single film provides contraceptive activity for up to three hours, but a fresh film is required for every act of intercourse.
Approximately 72mg of nonoxynol-9 per film, according to the manufacturer. Used to help prevent pregnancy by inactivating sperm.
Other ingredients: Glycerin, polyvinyl alcohol and purified water.

No STI Protection: VCF does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections. Use appropriate barrier protection where STI prevention is needed.
HIV Risk: Nonoxynol-9 can irritate vaginal tissues and may increase the risk of HIV transmission. Do not use if you or your partner has HIV. If HIV status is uncertain, choose another contraceptive method and seek professional advice.
Irritation: Stop use and consult a healthcare professional if you or your partner experiences burning, itching, a rash or other irritation.
Correct Application: Allow the full 15-minute dissolving period and use a new film for each act of intercourse.
Do Not Double Up: Do not use multiple films simultaneously or combine with another nonoxynol-9 spermicide.
Vaginal Use Only: Do not use rectally or swallow the product.
Contraceptive Effectiveness: No contraceptive method is 100% effective. VCF used alone is less effective than many other contraceptive methods. Consider additional contraception, such as condoms, for greater pregnancy prevention.
General: Keep out of reach of children. If accidentally swallowed, seek medical assistance.
Store at approximately 15-30 degrees C in a cool, dry place. Keep each film sealed in its original pouch until required. Protect from excessive heat and moisture.
