Antique White French confit pot with lid, in heavy patinated weathered condition. Also known as a pot
à conserve, was crafted in the historic pottery town of Martres Tolosane in the
late 19th century. Made of stoneware and finished in a soft white glaze, it
features twin loop handles, a domed lid with knob, and a rounded body tapering
to a narrow foot. This example has heavy glaze imperfections, and rim wear highlight its
provincial authenticity and aged use. Showing distinct surface glaze imperfections; with heavy wear / network of fine cracks (craquelure) to body, inside natural worn crackle-glaze, and aggressive rim chips. As shown in pictures. It is a truely charming piece, with imperfections throughout giving a true shabby chic character. Its lid is also worn with wear to the rim but has a far less weathered crackle glaze and different in coloration. Therefore presumed to be married at a later date, however, fits together charmingly.

Martres Tolosane has been a renowned ceramic centre since
the 18th century, celebrated for both decorative faience and utilitarian wares.
This example reflects the practical side of its production, designed for
household storage before the widespread adoption of modern containers. Today, this pot is equally appreciated as a decorative
urn, rustic storage jar, or sculptural display piece. Its generous proportions, and understated glaze make it a versatile accent for farmhouse
kitchens, Mediterranean rustic spaces, and wabi-sabi interiors where authentic
materials and aged patina are celebrated.

This pot measures approx. 20.5cm tall (without wearing its Lid) and 24cm wide (handle
to handle).
