Ceramarte made these decorative ceramic mugs in Brazil for the Anheuser-Busch brewing company based in St. Louis, Missouri. They were produced starting in the late twentieth century as holiday gifts and limited-edition items for beer enthusiasts and patrons. Each mug was shaped with traditional pottery methods and hand-painted relief scenes before being fired in large commercial kilns.

People displayed these mugs on living room shelves and in home bars across the United States as holiday decorations. They were occasionally filled with beer during festive winter gatherings or given as seasonal presents to loyal customers and employees. Over time, production numbers grew very large, and the practice of daily display gradually gave way to storage in attics and cabinets.
