Extremely Rare WW2 Era Royal Navy HMS Defiance Torpedo School Bronze Badge

HMS Defiance was a Torpedo & Mine School made up of several retired Royal Navy hulks moored at Devonport, from 1884 until 1959, when the school was paid off and moved ashore to Portsmouth.

The hulks consisted of the original 91 gun 2nd Rate ship of the line HMS Defiance, HMS Perseus, Spartan, Cleopatra, Insconstant, Andromeda and Vulcan.

The solid bronze badge is in fine fettle and measures 6.5” x 5” and is described as “a black crest with a white dexter hand (right hand) grasping three gold bolts of lightning in bend sinister”.
