Developed by Chris Sawyer Productions and published for this reissue by Infogrames Interactive in 2001, RollerCoaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes is the second expansion pack for the original RollerCoaster Tycoon. The expansion was originally released in September 2000, while this copy represents the later Infogrames-branded 2001 printing. It adds 30 new scenarios, additional roller coasters and rides, six new scenery themes, shops and stalls, and expanded customization options while also incorporating the complete content of the earlier RollerCoaster Tycoon: Corkscrew Follies expansion. The original RollerCoaster Tycoon game is required to play.

RollerCoaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes completed the expansion cycle for Chris Sawyer's original theme-park simulation, substantially increasing its scenarios, scenery, attractions, and park-building possibilities. As the second and final expansion, its inclusion of the complete RollerCoaster Tycoon: Corkscrew Follies content made it the most comprehensive expansion release for the original game before the later Gold, Totally RollerCoaster, and Deluxe compilations.

Collectors interested in RollerCoaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes may also want to explore RollerCoaster Tycoon (1999), the original game in the series; RollerCoaster Tycoon: Corkscrew Follies (1999), the first official expansion whose content is incorporated into Loopy Landscapes; RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (2002), Chris Sawyer's direct sequel that expanded the park-building formula; and Transport Tycoon Deluxe (1995), Sawyer's earlier management simulation built around similar economic planning and construction systems.
