The Shallows (2016) is a survival thriller starring Blake Lively as Nancy Adams, a grieving medical student who gets stranded on a rock 200 yards from the shore of a secluded Mexican beach while being stalked by a great white shark. 

After the death of her mother from cancer, medical student Nancy Adams travels alone to a hidden, unnamed beach in Mexico—the same place her mother visited while pregnant with her. While surfing in the secluded waters, Nancy is attacked and deeply bitten in the leg by a massive great white shark. Forced to swim to a nearby floating whale carcass and then to a tiny, isolated rock outcropping, she must use her medical knowledge, courage, and whatever tools she can salvage to survive the elements and the relentless predator.
