Up for sale is an incredibly rare, authentic 1939 Chicago Cubs Pocket Schedule & Water-Slide Decal. This dual-purpose piece of historic baseball memorabilia was produced ahead of the 1939 Major League Baseball season. The front features the iconic, highly sought-after 1930s-1940s Chicago Cubs "striped jersey" bear mascot standing over home plate with the classic slogan: "Watch the Cubs Play Ball." The reverse side displays the complete, original 1939 home game schedule at Wrigley Field, tracking matchups chronologically from Opening Day against Cincinnati on April 18 all the way through the final home stand ending October 1 against St. Louis. Before modern peel-and-stick vinyl, these promotional pieces were designed as water-slide transfers meant to be dipped in water and applied to tavern mirrors, shop windows, or car windshields. Finding an unapplied survivor with a fully legible, clean reverse calendar is exceptionally difficult.
