Tektite is a natural stone that holds celestial energy from an intense meteorite impact event!
They hold a powerful cosmic story!
The heat and pressure of the meteorite impact combined with the sand and soil to create this beautiful black glass!
The characteristics of tektite vary from piece to piece in that the pitted surface features and carvings in the stone is natural and unique.
They formed from the solidification of rotating liquids, molten terrestrial ejecta from a meteorite impact.
During the extreme conditions created by a hypervelocity meteorite impact, near surface terrestrial sediments and rocks were either melted, vaporized or both, and ejected from an impact crater.
Molden material formed and as it reentered the atmosphere it rapidly cooled to form tektite.
Tektite has a unique characteristic in that when it is held up to the sun or a light source, it has a yellow color.
Tektite was formed thousands of years ago. Records indicate that humans found and used tektite as tools dating back to 4,000 and 6,000 B.C.
Pieces were also worn as good luck charms during the Iron Age.
As an astronomer and meteorite hunter, I am continually fascinated by the stories preserved within natural cosmic materials.
Tektite is a remarkable reminder of a rare event that connected Earth and the cosmos millions of years ago.
