WHY 1986 TOPPS FOOTBALL IS SO SPECIAL!
Few football card sets are as instantly recognizable as 1986 Topps.
Its bold green borders, white yard-line graphics, and bright yellow photograph frames give the issue a distinctive look reminiscent of a football field.
But what makes the design iconic also makes high-quality examples challenging to find.
- Notoriously sensitive green borders: Even minor edge and corner wear can be clearly visible against the dark green background.
- Challenging centering: Factory centering inconsistencies are common throughout the issue, particularly on several important rookie cards.
- Printing imperfections: Small print spots, registration issues, and other factory flaws can affect otherwise attractive cards.
- Extraordinary rookie checklist: The set contains Hall of Fame rookies of Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Reggie White, Bruce Smith, and Andre Reed.
- Loaded with legendary veterans: Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Dan Marino, John Elway, and many other football immortals.
- 396-card checklist: An impressive complete-set collecting challenge featuring nearly every major NFL franchise of the era.
Finding a complete 1986 Topps set is one thing. Finding one with beautiful green borders and exceptional overall eye appeal is another!
ONE OF THE GREATEST ROOKIE CARD LINEUPS EVER!
The 1986 Topps Football release is legendary because of its extraordinary rookie card selection.
And this complete set includes every one of the major issues!
THE centerpiece of the entire 1986 Topps Football set!
Jerry Rice is widely regarded as the greatest wide receiver in NFL history, retiring with an astonishing 22,895 receiving yards, 197 receiving touchdowns, and three Super Bowl championships.
His 1986 Topps rookie is one of the most recognizable football rookie cards of the modern vintage era.
The famous green borders make attractive examples especially desirable!
One of the most iconic quarterback cards of the 1980s!
Hall of Famer Steve Young became a San Francisco 49ers legend, earning two NFL MVP awards and leading the 49ers to victory in Super Bowl XXIX.
His 1986 Topps issue is his first NFL Topps card, following his earlier appearance in Topps USFL products.
A major key card, particularly challenging when seeking strong centering and clean borders!
The legendary "Minister of Defense"!
Reggie White was one of the most dominant defensive players in NFL history, finishing his career with 198 sacks and winning a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers.
His 1986 Topps card is a cornerstone NFL rookie issue, following his earlier USFL card appearances.
The NFL's all-time official sack leader!
Bruce Smith recorded 200 career sacks and became one of the greatest defensive ends ever to play professional football.
His 1986 Topps rookie remains a highly collectible Hall of Fame issue and an important part of this extraordinary rookie class.
Another Hall of Fame rookie from this amazing set!
Andre Reed became a key part of the Buffalo Bills' historic four consecutive Super Bowl appearances, finishing his career with 951 receptions and more than 13,000 receiving yards.
The 1988 NFL MVP and Cincinnati Bengals star!
Boomer Esiason became one of the NFL's premier quarterbacks during the late 1980s, leading Cincinnati to Super Bowl XXIII.
Another important rookie that rounds out this spectacular lineup.
ADDITIONAL NOTABLE ROOKIES: William "Refrigerator" Perry #20, Mark Bavaro #144, Bernie Kosar #187, Al Toon, Gary Clark, Wilber Marshall, and many other popular 1980s football players.
AN INCREDIBLE HALL OF FAME LINEUP!
Beyond the rookie cards, this complete set features an extraordinary group of legendary NFL quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, and defensive players.

CONDITION - IMMACULATE EYE APPEAL!
One of the most appealing characteristics of this particular complete set is its EXCEPTIONAL OVERALL CONDITION!
OUR ESTIMATED CONDITION: Based on our visual assessment, the cards appear to be approximately PSA 7 OR BETTER ACROSS THE SET, in our opinion.
The cards are incredibly attractive, with beautiful overall presentation and many examples showing sharp corners, clean surfaces, and impressive eye appeal.
For a set with these notoriously sensitive green borders, that is especially exciting.
1986 Topps Football is famous for its dark green borders, which can immediately reveal even small amounts of corner or edge wear.
In addition, original factory centering, print marks, and other production characteristics can affect grading outcomes.
That's why the overall appearance of this set, especially its major rookies and Hall of Famers, is such an important selling point.
We have provided scans of the top players and key rookie cards to help buyers understand the condition of the collection.
These are the actual cards included, allowing collectors to evaluate the major issues and make their own condition assessments.
As with any vintage set, cards may vary in corner sharpness, centering, surface quality, edge condition, and printing characteristics.
All estimated PSA grades are subjective opinions. These cards are not being represented as professionally graded, and no particular grading result is guaranteed.
This is a set we believe has outstanding overall eye appeal, with the type of presentation that serious collectors appreciate.
THE SET THAT DEFINED 1980s FOOTBALL COLLECTING!
The 1986 Topps Football set captures one of the most memorable periods in NFL history.
The legendary 1985 Chicago Bears had just won Super Bowl XX, Joe Montana and the 49ers were building a dynasty, Dan Marino and John Elway were reshaping quarterback play, and the next generation of NFL legends was emerging.
The 1986 release also marks the arrival of several former USFL standouts into the NFL, including Steve Young and Reggie White.
Combined with the arrival of Jerry Rice, Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, and Boomer Esiason, the set is a remarkable snapshot of football history.
Few football sets can match the combination of iconic rookies, Hall of Fame superstars, and instantly recognizable design found in 1986 Topps!
