A distinctive example of Japanese watchmaking from the early 1970s, this vintage Seiko Advan Automatic combines bold period styling with an eye-catching gradient dial and reliable mechanical engineering.
Produced in 1973, this reference 7019-7280 features a striking green-to-silver gradient dial, with a darker green centre transitioning into a lighter white outer ring. The distinctive orange Advan sun emblem provides a vibrant contrast, complemented by applied baton hour markers, polished steel hands and Seiko branding.
The stainless-steel case features a combination of brushed surfaces and polished bevels, creating a sharp, architectural appearance characteristic of the era. The faceted acrylic crystal adds another layer of visual interest, catching the light from different angles and enhancing the depth of the dial.
Inside is the Seiko calibre 7019 automatic movement, featuring 21 jewels and a practical day-date complication. The movement has been serviced, including disassembly, cleaning, lubrication and regulation, and the day-date function operates correctly.
The watch is fitted with a replacement stainless-steel bracelet and clasp in a period-appropriate style. With its distinctive dial, angular case and colourful design, this Advan offers a characterful alternative to more conventional vintage Seiko models.
