Vintage bone china cup / mug hand painted in 2007 and signed by Verna Shryock It features the 'Winston Churchill Memorial in Fulton, Missouri which is now known as 'America's National Churchill Museum.'
On March 5, 1946, Sir Winston Churchill delivered his famous Iron Curtain / Sinews of Peace speech at the Westminster College campus in Fulton. President Harry S. Truman was present at this pivotal moment at the start of the cold war.
The artist, Verna Shryock was a beloved, well-known resident of this area of Missouri and hand-painted landmarks as a way of preserving history (this cup is an example).
The cup is 3 5/8" tall and has gilt accent bands as well as the multi-color hand painted scene. There is some impasto style, or raised paint giving a high relief and the effect that the paint lifts off the surface.
Pre-owned. No chips or cracks. Mild foxing inside the cup - see photos.
