Cloud Nine captures The Temptations at a pivotal point in their evolution, blending their classic Motown soul sound with funk and psychedelic influences. The album combines the group’s trademark vocal harmonies with adventurous arrangements and the distinctive songwriting partnership of Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong.
Featuring the title track Cloud Nine alongside I Heard It Through The Grapevine and the extended Run Away Child, Running Wild, the album represents an important chapter in The Temptations catalogue. This 2024 limited edition US reissue is pressed on 140 gram vinyl in stereo through Motown, UMe and Elemental Music.
