Similar to the well-known television tower located in Alexanderplatz in Berlin. A model of impressive height with glazed spherical dome, red-white pole and a red-blinking beacon at the top.

HISTORY :

The Berlin television tower rises an impressive 368 metres¬¬into the sky not far from Alexanderplatz. In 1964, the Central Committee of the SED decided to build the tower directly in the centre of what was then East Berlin. In 1965, work began on concreting the foundation and the shaft, which reached to a depth of five metres. At a height of almost 200 meters, the characteristic tower ball was then assembled, whose individual steel segments were pulled up by a crane – by the way, the crane is still there today, but its boom was folded down. On October 3, 1969, the tower was opened, the construction of which exceeded the calculated costs by a factor of six at 200 million GDR marks. Today, the Berlin TV Tower belongs to Deutsche Funkturm GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. In addition to the broadcasting technology, the sphere, which is enormously large with a diameter of 32 meters and weighs 4600 tons, also includes a viewing platform and a revolving café. Around one million people a year take the lifts to the top, including even bridal couples who get married up here. The 118-metre-high antenna, which is marked in white and red and can be heated in winter, houses FM transmitters, state-of-the-art equipment for digital terrestrial television (DVB-T) and digital radio transmitters, among other things.

The easy-to-build kit features prototypically colored plastic parts, great details and fully illustrated step-by-step instructions.
