A rare and electrifying live document capturing Jaco Pastorius and Rashied Ali in full improvisational flight, recorded for French Radio on December 19th, 1984.
This intimate duet performance blends Jaco’s unmistakable melodic bass phrasing with Ali’s free‑flowing rhythmic language, creating a set that moves between jazz standards, fusion signatures, and unexpected reinterpretations.
The session includes standout renditions of John Coltrane’s “Naima”, Ornette Coleman’s “Broadway Blues”, Jaco’s own “Continuum”, and a blistering take on Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze”.
Throughout the broadcast, several student bassists — Michel Hatzigeorgiou, Reno Steba, Alan Brennan, and Angel Vicens — join the duo, adding spontaneous layers to an already adventurous performance.
This Music On Vinyl edition is pressed on translucent green coloured vinyl, includes the 50th Anniversary Timeless Jazz sticker, and comes housed in a sturdy 3mm sleeve.
