Thank you for viewing! From France, a small sacred item, lovingly passed down through generations, has arrived. This is a large vintage medal created to commemorate the Catholic Holy Year of 1975. The top of the front features the inscription "ANNO SANTO MCMLXXV," where MCMLXXV is Roman numerals for 1975. The center prominently displays a solemn architectural design reminiscent of the "Holy Door" opened during the Holy Year, with figures of saints flanking it. The reverse side is even more striking, with a composition featuring a large cross at the center, surrounded by the four major basilicas of Rome. This is a traditional design seen on Holy Year medals, symbolizing St. Peter's Basilica, St. John Lateran Basilica, St. Mary Major Basilica, and St. Paul Outside the Walls Basilica. Measuring approximately 1.2 inches wide and weighing about 9.94 grams (pendant only), this piece has a substantial presence. It transcends its classification as a religious medal and would complement vintage and retro styles. The detailed architectural depictions and deep shading are exceptionally stylish, and it pairs well with the included 25.6-inch chain. The material appears to be a silver-toned alloy. We cannot confirm it is made of silver as no hallmarks are visible. There are signs of age such as tarnish, scuffs, and minor scratches, but these contribute to its vintage charm. A new stainless steel rolo chain is included.
