WOLPE, Berthold; Fritz KREDEL; Lisa HAMPE. BAUER, Konrad F. (introduction).

Deutsches Handwerk. Ein Kalender für das Jahr 1935.

Frankfurt am Main: Bauersche Gießerei, [1934].

Small, unpaginated. Printed and designed by pupils of Rudolf Koch. Printed in red and black throughout on flecked, tinted paper. Monthly calendar leaves, each facing a full-page heraldic craft emblem with a verse and a note on the trade's patron saint. Introductory essay "Von den Wappen und Zeichen der Handwerke", with a red reproduction of a fourteenth-century tailors' guild seal. Trade section at the end showing Wolpe's Handwerkerzeichen, numbered [7177–7206]. Original ribbed paper wrappers, upper cover printed with a laurel-and-wheat wreath in black and the title in red.

A handsome foundry specimen in the form of a calendar, issued by the Bauer type foundry to promote its new range of trade emblems. These were sold to jobbing printers as stock blocks (galvanos on wooden mounts), plain or wreathed, in two sizes. Konrad F. Bauer's introduction credits the designs to three pupils and collaborators of Rudolf Koch, who had died in April 1934: Fritz Kredel, Berthold Wolpe and Lisa Hampe.
