Super Rare Estate Find! 1910s–1920s Vintage "Take-Down" Style Spark Plug that has striking, deep cobalt blue glazed porcelain insulator is remarkably well-preserved with excellent color depth, showing only the minor wear expected of a tool that worked a century ago. Its been lightly brush-cleaned only so we could preserve its authentic aged patina without stripping away its historical character. Sadly no markings present anywhere.
Before standard white porcelain became universally adopted, premium manufacturers like the Benford Mfg Co. with their "Golden Giant" luxury plug line plus Blue Blaze Spark Plug Company used high-grade colorful glazed ceramics to insulate their central electrodes. Plugs like those are highly prized by collectors for display cabinets and automobilia collections.
The piece is beautifully preserved, it features a heavy-duty hexagonal nut assembly in the center, allowing the plug to be completely disassembled so carbon deposits could be scraped off the porcelain core or replaced on the farm. Also has early side-ground electrode extending sharply inward toward the central point which is hallmark of early brass-era and agricultural engineering.
