Scarce floral cameo glass compote of exceptional quality and breathtaking beauty. Design & execution leave no room for improvement. These have always been rare (& desirable). In old (60s) auction catalogs (even a few of the big ones), these appeared/were cataloged as unsigned Tiffany cameo. Before 1970, scholarship on Continental European glass was in its infancy (especially in America). QUALITY is unbelievable! No chips or cracks or wear. Looks unused, clean, crisp & bright. The example that sold ten years ago (last picture) sold for over $1000, and had 3 chips. The listing from that auction catalog is below. I also have another matching stem that is chipped and is also available for sale.
COPY from catalog: Rheinische Glashütten AG, Cologne-Ehrenfeld around 1900. Spiral-optically ribbed foot and stem made of light green glass. The colorless bowl overlaid with ruby pink. Etched decoration: stylized flower petals. H. 13 cm. – Provenance: Schürenberg Kunsthandel, Aachen. – Literature: Pazaurek / Spiegl. Glass. Munich 1983. pp. 80–81. – Condition: 3 minor chips on the rim.
