What this part does

The rear inner sill trim mounts directly along the bottom threshold of the rear door opening. It protects the exposed painted metal of the body shell from scuffs, scratches, and moisture as passengers enter and exit the cabin. Additionally, this panel overlaps and secures the outer edge of the interior floor carpet, ensuring a seamless transition between the exterior door seal and the cabin floor. When this trim is cracked, severely scuffed, or missing, the interior carpet can pull loose and the structural threshold paint becomes vulnerable to damage and eventual corrosion.

Before you order

This specific trim panel is designed exclusively for the left (driver side in North America) rear door threshold. BMW offers different finishes for these plates depending on the trim level; because the vehicle it came from was equipped with the M Package, ensure this matches the aesthetic of your existing front and right-side sill plates.

Installation requires pressing the panel into plastic retention slots located on the vehicle body. Note that plastic mounting clips frequently break during the removal of the old trim. Inspect the receiving slots on your chassis to determine if you need to source fresh mounting clips prior to installing this replacement panel.
