Oh‑By The Way captures a vibrant new era for Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, recorded in 1982 and showcasing a fresh generation of rising stars. This lineup features Terence Blanchard, Donald Harrison, Bill Pierce, Johnny O’Neal and Charles Fambrough, continuing Blakey’s unmatched legacy of discovering and shaping young jazz talent. The album opens with Blanchard’s energetic title track Oh‑By The Way, followed by standout performances including Wayne Shorter’s One By One and a deeply expressive reading of My Funny Valentine. This edition includes newly written liner notes by Timeless Jazz founders Wim and Ria Wigt and is presented as a limited blue vinyl pressing with the 50th anniversary sticker affixed to the sleeve.
