I have for sale another example of the iconic Oris Big Crown Pointer Date - the 7482B model with silver dial and sub-seconds at '9'. Launched, I believe, in the late 1990's / early 2000's (based on the model number and 644 calibre designation). It's been fully serviced, including new mainspring, and comes with a one year warranty that covers the proper mechanical functioning of the watch.

As you'll see from the photos, it's a stylish four-level dial. Starting with the sub-seconds dial at '9', up to the main central dial, the outer ring for the inward silver-dagger hour markers and finally the chapter ring for the pointer date. The sub-seconds ring has a circular pattern, the central ring is matted, the hour ring has a guilloché'd wave pattern and the angled date pointer ring has a matted finish. Overall, it's a really nice look. The sub-seconds and date pointer crescent are both a ruby red that contrasts nicely with the silver dial. Combined with the silver edged cathedral style hour and minute hands it's a very easy to read dial. The date clicks over at midnight, as it should, with the date numeral sitting between the tips of the red half moon date pointer.

PLEASE NOTE: I would point out a couple of things related to the dial. Firstly, there are some minor marks to the central matted dial - the most noticeable in the upper half, below the 'M' in 'Automatic'. Second, I have re-lumed the hands. The original lume was quite dirty and detracted from the look of the watch. Please do check the photos.

The 36mm polished stainless steel case (40mm with crown) has a steel milled bezel. Again, it's in very good condition, with no notable scratches or marks. The transition from bezel to case and lugs is elegantly and seamlessly done. Lug to lug length is 43.5mm and case thickness is 10.5mm. On the right hand side of the case is the 7mm diameter 'big crown'.

Speaking of the crown, it's marked 'Oris' and is a screw down version. Unscrewing it allows you to wind the watch manually, if needed. Pulling it out to the first stop allows you to quick change the date (note the date-pointer rotates anti-clockwise around the dial). Pulling the crown out fully (second stop) allows you to set the time. Note the watch has a hacking feature in this position, which stops the watch and allows you to very accurately set the time.

The case has a display back through which you can see the Oris 644 movement (a modified ETA 2836-2). This movement is an automatic wind, 27 jewel model, running at 28,800 beats per hour. After a full service, it's running between -2 and +3 seconds per day in all positions on the time-grapher, with an amplitude of 275-300 degrees and beat error of 0.0-0.3. It's a very good timekeeper.

The case is marked as water resistant to 50m. However, PLEASE NOTE, although I have replaced the case-back gasket, I can't change out the original crown gasket without risking damaging the crown - and I can't source a new crown. As such, please don't treat the watch as water resistant.

The watch comes with its correct '7482' stamped Oris branded steel bracelet, which is also in extremely good condition. Currently sized to fit a maximum 19cm / 7.5" wrist (snug, but comfortable - no slop). I'm afraid I don't have any spare links.

I want you to buy with confidence. I have a diploma in Clock and Watch Servicing from the BHI (British Horological Institute) having successfully completed the relevant written and practical examinations. I take a properly professional approach to my work. When I say 'fully serviced', what you're getting is a watch or clock that's been stripped down to its component parts, including mainsprings out of barrels and jewels out of their safety settings. These are then machine cleaned and rinsed in the proper horological cleaning solutions and finally re-assembled and lubricated using the appropriate oils and greases. The watch is then timed, adjusted and tested.

Per the above, I have included a photo of the disassembled case and movement. I hope this gives you any reassurance you might want that you are indeed getting a properly serviced watch when you buy from me.

I also want you to be really happy with your purchase. However, if you decide it’s not what you wanted, or expected, I offer a 14 day money back guarantee. The item must be returned in its original condition and you would be responsible for postage and packing costs.

Delivery is via Royal Mail for insurance purposes.

If you have any questions that aren’t answered above, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m happy to provide any additional information I can.
