Pilot Maki-e Fountain Pen "Twin Cranes" (Sōkaku) – Kokkōkai
18K Gold Nib 1960s–1970s(Unused item)

Pilot’s "Twin Cranes" *maki-e* fountain pen is a masterpiece showcasing exquisite crane artistry and superior craftsmanship by Kokkokai—a prestigious group of *maki-e* artists that included Living National Treasure Gonroku Matsuda.

Kokkokai: A group of *maki-e* artists organized in 1926 by Pilot founder Ryosuke Namiki, who invited artisans such as Gonroku Matsuda—later designated a Living National Treasure—to join. "Twin Cranes" Design: The barrel and cap feature a depiction of two cranes rendered with intricate detail, with every single feather carefully portrayed. Specifications and Nib: Depending on the era of production (such as the 1960s), these pens may bear 18K or 14K hallmarks, the "Kokkokai" mark, or the artist's signature; they are available in various filling systems, such as converter-only or dual-use (cartridge/converter) models.

The fact that the nib is 18K (18-karat gold, 75% purity) indicates that it belongs either to a high-end line—highly popular among Pilot's Maki-e fountain pens—or is a vintage model from the 1960s or 1970s.
