This is such a wonderful find. An antique/vintage miniature metal toy iron with wooden handle, original red paintwork and decorated with a fabulous and iconic symbol of France, a Gallic red and blue rooster.
The toy was made in France circa 1930-1940 and was designed to be used as a child's toy and possibly also as a shop display piece.
These old irons pre-date electric irons; hot coals were placed inside the iron to heat them for use. My iron is offered for sale complete with the original tinplate stand. Please see relevant images.
The red paintwork is in good condition, minor wear to the tinplate and the lovely red/blue rooster nods/bends forwards. This might not be a design feature, it might be loose.
