Whodini were one of the first commercially successful hip hop acts to emerge from New York in the early 1980s, known for their smooth rap delivery blended with an R and B twist. Their sound helped lay the foundation for the New Jack Swing movement that would dominate the charts later in the decade. Their debut single Magics Wand became the first rap track to receive its own music video on MTV, marking a major milestone in hip hop history. This compilation brings together the essential cuts from their early platinum selling albums, including Friends, Five Minutes of Funk, One Love and Magics Wand, capturing the group’s influential role in shaping the early days of rap.
