Old-world heraldry with real presence. This vintage cast metal coat of arms features the crowned double-headed imperial eagle in the classic Russian/Byzantine style, with a polished gold-tone shield at its heart, flanked by scepters, axes and flags. The charcoal-black and antique-gold two-tone finish gives it the weight of something from a European manor library. The blank center shield was traditionally left for engraving, a monogram or a family crest.
Heavy, detailed and dramatic on a wall. Perfect for a study, office or gallery wall, or for the history buff who has everything. Mid-century made, with a look that feels centuries older. Stamped JAPAN on the back; hollow-backed with two mounting screws already installed. Good vintage condition with light age-appropriate wear (see photos).
