Retro costume jewellery ‘set’

I think they belong together – we

certainly got them from the same

estate along with a slightly different

bracelet – the group shot shows bracelet

but it's a separate listing.

 

The necklace and ring screams the 1970s

(I know as I was there!)

 

The classic Retro necklace has a long   

chain which is typical of the era as

they were worn over jumpers (sweaters)

in Winter or sat on the outside of your

open shirt collar in warmer weather.

 

Neither piece has a makers stamp.

 

 They are gold tone metal set with

ovals of the magnificent Abalone

 or Paua shell as we call it in this

 area of the planet.

 

The pieces have survived for around

half a century and we think will make

worthy additions to any vintage Retro

jewellery collection.

 

CONDITION

In relatively good vintage condition with

some wear and/or tarnishing to the

gold metal finish in places.

 

Shell ovals are all in very good

condition with no damage.

 

If scrutinized closely you’ll probably

see the gold on the edges of the

pendant and ring are rubbed in

 places but not visually noticeable

 with the naked eye.

 

The chain of the pendant necklace

has dulled with time.

 

There’s a patch of gold finish gone

from underneath and to a lesser

degree inside the shank of the

ring so this piece is probably in

the ‘worst’ condition of the two

items but not noticeable from the

visual aspect when worn. 

 

DIMENSIONS

Ring is a size R/S so good

for a middle finger on an

average sized hand.

 

Pendant is approx.

5 cm (2") high

2.5 cm (1") wide

 

Chain is roughly 70cm long (27 ½”)
