Joe Satriani’s 1986 debut introduced the world to a guitarist whose tone, phrasing and melodic instincts would redefine instrumental rock. Not Of This Earth arrived just before his breakthrough Surfing With The Alien, already showcasing the fluid legato runs, expressive bends and inventive harmonies that became his signature. The album blends atmospheric soundscapes with razor‑sharp technicality, marking the first step in a career that would lead to supergroups like G3 and Chickenfoot, fifteen Grammy nominations, and over ten million albums sold. This 40th anniversary edition celebrates the origins of the bestselling instrumental rock guitarist of all time.
