A gift for the rescue volunteer, the K9 handler, the dog-park regular everyone knows by their dog's name, the grandfather who keeps a treat jar for the neighbour's terrier, the nurse who walks shelter dogs on her day off — and for the family marking a first Christmas without their old companion. A Made in USA Natural Baltic Amber bobblehead dog figurine says what a card cannot: this dog was loved, and still is.

A small terrier-type puppy, lying with its front paws forward, tongue just showing, ears pricked. A studded collar sits at the neck and a strand of amber beads at the chest. Over the ceramic form, hand-set natural Baltic amber in dark cognac: deep chestnut, burnt orange and smoky butterscotch stones, each cut and placed by hand so the surface reads like a brindled coat. Face, ears and paws are left in glazed ceramic.

The head is alive. Touch the nose and it begins a slow, patient nod on its hidden spring — the same gentle agreement a real dog gives when you ask whether it wants a walk — then settles back on its own, waiting for the next hand to pass by.

No amber stone ever repeats — Baltic amber hardened some 44 million years ago, and every piece carries its own tone and inclusions. The dark cognac blend on this figurine exists on this figurine only.

KIZIMA® works from a single studio in Brooklyn, New York — the only Baltic amber manufactory in the United States. Each figurine is set by hand, one at a time, in a tradition that runs back to Königsberg, the historic amber capital whose craftsmen produced the amber chessboard now in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
