TOILETPAPER Issue #1 (June 2010) is the debut issue of the cult visual art magazine created by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, presented here with the highly collectible Special Edition “Nun” cover.
This is the alternate cover version of the very first TOILETPAPER issue. The regular edition appeared with the now-famous faces/eye cover, while this version features the provocative image of a nun holding a syringe. The publication was conceived by Cattelan and Ferrari and developed by Micol Talso, with support from the DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art.
Launched in 2010, TOILETPAPER quickly became known for its distinctive combination of surrealism, dark humor, fashion photography, advertising aesthetics, and deliberately unsettling imagery. With virtually no conventional editorial text, the magazine functions as a visual artist’s publication, with full-page photographic compositions forming the entire experience.
As the first issue with the Special Edition cover, this is one of the most sought-after early TOILETPAPER publications and is now exceptionally difficult to find on the secondary market.
Condition: Very Good. The interior is exceptionally clean and well preserved, with bright, vivid images and clean pages. The binding is secure and the magazine is complete. The covers show visible light surface scratches and normal edge/corner wear from age and handling. The original $12.00 retail barcode sticker remains on the back cover. No writing or markings observed inside.
