Ariocarpus sp. – Very Old Hard-Grown Collector Specimen

A highly unusual old Ariocarpus specimen displaying extreme hard-grown character, mature textured tubercles and what appears to be more than one active growing area.

Grown in an approximately 10 cm pot, this is an old established plant with a substantial mature body and fresh dark-green growth developing amongst much older weathered growth.

The exact species is uncertain, so the plant is being offered honestly as Ariocarpus sp. rather than applying an identification that cannot be guaranteed.

The plant appears to have developed multiple areas of active growth, giving it an unusual irregular form. The dark-green living sections contrast strongly against the heavily aged and weathered outer tubercles.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTE:

Please study all photographs very carefully as they form an essential part of the description.

This is a very old and heavily weathered specimen. A substantial proportion of the outer growth is dry, corked, discoloured and/or no longer actively growing. There are numerous old dead or dried tubercles, scars and areas of historical damage.

There is, however, clearly visible green active growth within the plant and it appears to be continuing to develop from more than one area.

This specimen is therefore best suited to an experienced Ariocarpus collector who appreciates old, characterful hard-grown plants rather than pristine nursery-grown specimens.

No guarantee is made regarding the exact number of growing heads or growing points.

Ariocarpus are exceptionally slow-growing Mexican cacti prized by collectors for their unusual tuberculate bodies, extremely slow development and increasingly sculptural appearance with age.

The plant will be packed with great care to protect the body and root system during transit. Please take particular care when unpacking.
