Up for sale is a fantastic piece of Canadian industrial history: an antique adjustable monkey wrench manufactured by the renowned Whitman & Barnes Manufacturing Company.
This tool features the crisp, classic W&B diamond logo stamped into the upper jaw frame, clearly reading: "W & B CO / MADE IN CANADA / WARRANTED". It was forged at their historic St. Catharines, Ontario facility before the company closed its wrench division in 1920, making this tool at least 100 years old.
Condition Details:
- Mechanism: The thumb-screw knurled adjustment moves freely and smoothly. Shows some black noticeable "workshop" mark. Possibly paint?
- Handle: Features the classic "Perfect Handle" style wood scales secured with steel rivets. Wood is solid with a rich, authentic aged patina and standard historical wear/scuffs/marks from workshop use.
- Metal: Showing a great dark, unpolished rustic patina. May show surface rust/marks/indents etc from use. Stamping is legible and can be seen in the photos.
Perfect addition for collectors of vintage blacksmith tools, Canadian-made hardware, or antique farm tools!
