This auction is for a seldom seen Vintage 1970 Westinghouse ‘Seven Seas’ Portable Multi-Band Radio Model RPM-5010A. There are 6 bands including Shortwave, AM, and FM. This radio is heavy and well-built, designed to compete with the extremely popular Zenith TransOceanics at the time. The flip up dial cover with lighted dial, against the black & chrome case really sets this one apart. The radio works on all bands including shortwave picking up stations normally across the dial with excellent sensitivity. There is built-in AM/FM and Shortwave telescoping antennas that store inside the case and “pop up” by pushing down on each of them. The antennas are long and in great shape, they can be swiveled as well. There are AFC, fine tuning, tone, dial light, band selector, battery & squelch controls, along with earphone and external antenna connections on the back. There is a battery/tuning strength indicator as well. The back opens to the wall plug that stores neatly inside the back and the battery compartment that still has its original battery holder. There is a separate compartment where the station log and instructional manual can store safely inside the back. The leather sides, top and back are in great shape as well. This beautiful radio would make an excellent addition to any collection.
