Fender Japan 1987 ST67-85 Used Electric Guitar 1987

Following the "JV serial: early to mid-1980s" models, the "E serial: mid to late 1980s" '67 style guitars are becoming increasingly rare. A white Stratocaster with a transition pickup, maple fretboard, and 4-bolt joint is, of course, known as the specification most frequently used by Jimi Hendrix, and its popularity remains undiminished even today.

This specification was not yet in the catalog lineup during the JV era when Fender Japan was founded, suggesting that the E serial period represents the earliest iteration. It features a Fender USA pickup and alder body, the pots and selector are the same as the USA model (CTS pots/CRL switch), and the wiring and capacitors have been upgraded to vintage NOS parts.

Furthermore, the pickguard is likely to be a direct replacement of the same specifications.

While the guitar should sound normal if put back together now, it will likely betray you again after a while by switching to an infinite ohm center pickup, so it will be delivered with a Duncan center pickup. (Incidentally, once the center pickup reaches infinite ohm, it never recovers even by wiggling the pickup output wire or applying heat to the solder at the base of the pickup with a soldering iron.

If you remove it from the guitar and leave it for 2-3 weeks, it will naturally heal and return to normal.) As shown in the images, original parts such as the original pickup, potentiometers, switch, and capacitor are included. (Operation unconfirmed) Even after approximately 40 years, the truss rod functions well, and the neck is extremely straight with no kinks.

Even when compared side-by-side with several USA Fender guitars of the same era, which were about three times more expensive when new, this neck is significantly straighter. One string guide has been added, and although there are scattered scratches and dents, the frets have about 80% remaining, resulting in good playability.

Considering its age, it clearly maintains a condition above average, making it a highly satisfying 40-year-old Japanese vintage guitar in excellent condition, suitable for both collection and everyday use, regardless of the user's generation. ◎The hard case shown in the image is for photographic purposes only; the actual product comes with a later-model genuine Fender Japan gig bag.
