Studio pottery vase/pot thought to be a collaboration between ceramicist David Ross and painter Leta Davis. David Ross’ work is influenced by Asian pottery traditions and uses a black glaze giving a bronze effect. In addition the artists are influenced by industrial machinery and this piece, which looks on the surface like a teapot, has a spout resembling a screw, and a thin, flat handle which looks like riveted metal. The top finishes with a flat disc like structure.
Although at first glance this piece looks like a teapot, it does not function as one, hence the inscription ‘T pot’ on the side. There is no way for liquid to come out of the spout, the handle is unconventional and there never was a lid. It is a purely decorative, unique piece.
