Description

Miniature figure from the British Post Box Collection by J. Crooks, number 11 in the series. It depicts a Victorian pillar box dating from 1853 to 1856, as used in the West of England and based on a Guernsey design. The original is sited near Holwell in Dorset and is the oldest mainland box still in use.

The red post box stands in a small garden setting with painted flowers and foliage in orange, red, pink, white and blue, on a stone path base. The underside is covered with blue felt and carries the original collection label, which states that it was hand made and painted in England.

It is a small display piece that would suit a shelf or cabinet, and would appeal to collectors of British post box memorabilia. The photo with the ruler shows its approximate size.

Condition: Very Good
Condition Details: Hand-painted resin figure in very good condition, with bright, clean paintwork and no visible chips, cracks or breaks. The blue felt base is intact and the original British Post Box Collection label is still attached underneath. Please see the photos for the details.
