Large 1969 illustrated Italian engineering volume on hydroelectric dams, with construction photographs, detailed site plans, technical diagrams and its original cloth slipcase.
Scritti di Claudio Marcello gathers the Italian engineer's technical writings and studies concerning large dams and hydroelectric works. Prepared for the Italian national committee of the International Commission on Large Dams, it includes exceptionally engaging black-and-white photographs of dams and construction sites, maps and survey plans, curves and calculation tables, and detailed layout diagrams. The engineering images provide a vivid record of twentieth-century dam construction, not merely a collection of technical essays. Text is predominantly Italian, with some French.
Oversized publisher's gray cloth with gilt cover title, accompanied by its original matching cloth slipcase. The photographed contents include imposing dam photographs, a large general-layout drawing, and illustrated engineering papers. The introduction contains a printed or reproduced signature; it is not offered as a hand-signed copy. Photos show this exact book and the slipcase wear.
The book's gray cloth shows mild rubbing and handling wear. The original slipcase has noticeable soiling, discoloration and old adhesive/tape marks (see final gallery images). Some internal age spots. Binding appears intact in the photographed sections. No exhaustive collation of plans, photographic plates or pages has been undertaken.
The photos show the copy offered.
