Majolica Style Ceramic Monkey Pedestal Basket Dish Green Glazed Grapes 22cm Tall

Description

Glazed ceramic figure of a seated green monkey holding a woven-effect basket bowl above its head. The basket is decorated with moulded leaves and berries or grapes in blue and pink, and similar fruit and foliage trails around the monkey and its rocky base.

The base is hollow and has an impressed seal mark and a small incised mark on the underside. The maker is not identified. Height is approximately 22 cm, measured against the ruler in the photos.

Suitable as a decorative fruit bowl, trinket dish or centrepiece.

Condition: Very Good
Condition Details: Glossy glaze is bright and intact with no visible chips, cracks or repairs to the monkey, basket or fruit and leaf decoration. There is some light crazing in the glaze on the monkey's face, a few small specks and bubbles in the glaze, and light grime and wear on the unglazed underside. Sturdy and ready to display.
