Tag & Label Advertising Cover from Toronto, Ontario to Peterborough,

corner advertising at left for "If not delivered within TEN days return to / THE

engraved mechanical fastener tag pinned through fabric. Addressed in typewriting to textile manufacturer "Dominion Woolens and
Worsteds Ltd., / Peterborough, / Ontario." Franked at upper right with a single 2¢ green King George V Scroll

the Toronto slogan cancellation applied during machine feed sorting. Peripheral edge nicks and small tears along the left
and top borders, light handling wrinkles, and faint age toning; see scans for
condition details.
Mailed at
the onset of the Great Depression, this commercial illustrated cover documents
industrial textile supply marketing and national postal efficiency advertising
in Ontario. The single 2¢ Scroll issue adhesive paid the prevailing domestic
letter rate prior to the postal tariff increase of 1931. The striking red circular trade design promoted The Dancyger Safety Pin Ticket
Co., a manufacturer specializing in non-damaging pinned price tickets,
garment tags, and industrial fabric markers engineered for textile mills and
retail clothiers. Directed to major Canadian textile producer Dominion Woolens and Worsteds
Ltd. at their mill offices in Peterborough, the envelope was dispatched through
the Toronto central sorting plant on the evening of September 18, 1930. The cancel applied is the Post Office Department’s
dual-box machine slogan promoting the purchase of government pre-stamped
stationery: "STAMPED
ENVELOPES SAVE TIME AND MONEY". A
complete 1930 commercial advertising cover featuring prominent red trade
medallion branding for Dancyger Safety Pin Tickets, paired with the 2¢ Scroll
issue and Toronto slogan cancel.
