THE AIRCRAFT — UR-82027
Built in 1990, UR-82027 carries construction number 19530502288. Previously registered CCCP-82027, it joined Antonov Airlines’ Ukrainian-registered fleet in 1993.
The aircraft represents the An-124-100M branch of the Ruslan family, whose enormous cargo compartment and heavy transport capabilities made the type an important aircraft in international specialist freight operations.
Its individual registration and city dedication distinguish this model from other aircraft in the collection.
WHY “BE BRAVE LIKE KHARKIV”?
In July 2022, Antonov assigned UR-82027 the inscription “Be Brave Like Kharkiv” as part of its tribute to Ukrainian Hero Cities.
Kharkiv is one of Ukraine’s major centres of education, science, engineering and industry. Its defence and the endurance of its residents during the full-scale invasion became a powerful symbol of the country’s resilience.
The dedication honours the people who defended the city, supported their neighbours and worked to preserve its life and identity.
