ANTONOV AN-225 "MRIYA" (NATO: COSSACK) B/N: CCCP-82060 WITH BURAN SPACE SHUTTLE
1:200 Scale | Nauport | Premium Cast-Resin Display Model

An extraordinary combination of aviation and spaceflight history, recreated as a premium Nauport collectible.

This impressive 1:200 scale display set represents the Antonov An-225 ?Mriya,? registration CCCP-82060, carrying the Buran space shuttle above its fuselage. The combination captures one of the most recognisable sights in aerospace history: the six-engine transport aircraft and its remarkable orbital passenger.

Both models are made from cast resin, with carefully applied paintwork, detailed markings and a high-quality lacquer finish. Presented on a dedicated wooden stand, the complete composition makes a striking centrepiece for an aviation or space collection.

CRAFTSMANSHIP & COMMEMORATIVE BACKGROUND

Produced by Nauport in cooperation with craftspeople from the Antonov aircraft factory, this model belongs to a commemorative series created for the test pilots who flew the An-225.

This connection with the people behind the aircraft gives the model special significance. It celebrates their skill, the flight-test programme and the engineering achievement represented by Mriya.

Careful finishing, crisp markings and a smooth lacquer coating complement the model?s impressive size and distinctive silhouette.

THE HISTORY OF AN-225 CCCP-82060

Designed by the Antonov Design Bureau in Kyiv, the An-225 was developed to transport the Buran orbiter and components of the Energia launch vehicle. Its name, ?Mriya,? means ?Dream? in Ukrainian.

The aircraft made its first flight on 21 December 1988 from the Sviatoshyn factory airfield, flown by a crew led by test pilot Oleksandr Galunenko.

Its enormous fuselage, six turbofan engines and twin-tail design were central to its exceptional transport capabilities. The twin fins were particularly important when carrying large external loads above the fuselage.

In 1989, the An-225 carried Buran during flight testing and appeared with the shuttle at the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget in June. The aircraft-and-orbiter combination became an internationally recognised image of the programme.

This model represents Mriya in its early CCCP-82060 configuration, preserving the appearance associated with its original aerospace transport role.

BURAN ? THE ORBITAL PASSENGER

Buran was developed as a reusable orbital spacecraft. Unlike a rocket launch, its position on the An-225 was a transport configuration: the aircraft carried the orbiter between locations, rather than launching it into space.

The contrast between the immense carrier aircraft and the shuttle mounted above it makes this combination especially distinctive. Together, they represent an ambitious chapter in the history of aviation and space engineering.
