HISTORY OF UR-09307
Built in 1974 at the Tashkent aircraft factory, this Antonov An-22A carried construction number 043481244. Originally registered CCCP-09307, it later joined Antonov’s Ukrainian transport operation under registration UR-09307.
During its career with Antonov Airlines, the aircraft transported heavy and oversized cargo on international routes. Its enormous cargo capacity and distinctive appearance made it a memorable visitor at airports around the world.
Following an extensive overhaul, UR-09307 returned to service in 2016, wearing the white, grey, blue-and-yellow Antonov Airlines colour scheme represented by this model.
The aircraft was severely damaged at Hostomel during the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. This model preserves its appearance from its Antonov Airlines flying career.
THE ANTONOV AN-22 “ANTEI”
The Antonov An-22 made its first flight on 27 February 1965, marking a major milestone in the development of heavy air transport.
Designed to carry exceptionally large and heavy loads, it combined a spacious wide-body fuselage with a high-mounted wing, distinctive twin fins and four powerful turboprop engines driving contra-rotating propellers.
Its extraordinary proportions and engineering made the An-22 one of the most recognisable transport aircraft ever built. It remains an important symbol of Antonov’s contribution to aviation history.
