This is a heavy, deeply sculpted fine pewter belt buckle by Great American Products, © 2000, style number 4569. The design shows a scowling skull with deep-set eye sockets, a sharp nasal cavity and a full row of bared teeth. Bony skeletal hands grip it on both sides, and their long forearms sweep down to form the base of the buckle. The 3D relief is high, with a satin brushed pewter finish and darker antiqued recesses that bring out the bone detail.

The back is just as interesting as the front. The belt-loop posts are cast as tiny skulls, and the stud sits in a skull and crossbones mount. The back has a raised “4569 Fine Pewter © 2000” cartouche, the Great American Products winged eagle “USA” trademark, and the original foil “Designed in USA / Made in Mexico” sticker. The buckle has a dark metal wire loop and fits a standard snap belt up to about 1 1/2" wide.

It’s a great piece for biker, rocker, gothic, Halloween or skull collectors.
