The underside houses a legendary, genuine French-made Peugeot steel grinding mechanism and is cleanly stamped: "MADE BY PEUGEOT - DANISH HARDWOOD". Peugeot mechanisms are world-renowned for their exceptional case-hardened steel gears, which crack peppercorns before grinding them for superior flavor.
Condition Report: • Wood Exterior: Good vintage condition. The wood retains a wonderful natural patina with incredible grain contrast. No structural cracks or deep gouges. Shows a few light surface scratches and minor handling scuffs consistent with its age and light kitchen use (please view detailed photos). • Mechanism: The internal Peugeot steel grinding mechanism is completely intact, clean, and turns smoothly. The interior chamber is dry with minor, expected surface oxidation on the tip of the central spindle that does not affect performance. • Hardware: Comes with the original top flat-head adjustment screw, which allows you to adjust the grind setting from fine to coarse.
