Up for auction is a highly collectible and historically significant German edition of Voltaire's famous satirical novella, Kandide oder die beste Welt (Candide). Published in Munich by the renowned Kurt Wolff Verlag in 1920, this landmark edition features 26 iconic pen-and-ink illustrations by the modernist master Paul Klee.

This volume represents an incredible intersection of classical literature and 20th-century German Expressionism/Modern Art. Klee's nervous, geometric lines perfectly capture the dark humor and chaotic energy of Voltaire’s text, making this book highly sought after by both rare book collectors and fine art aficionados.
