This vintage Schank Sportswear knitwear puckered rayon blend brown suit cape set dates from the 1940s. It is made of dark burgundy reddish brown color rayon blend jersey knit fabric with a raised puckered crinkled texture and a colorful striped woven design on the front jacket. This beautiful three piece leisurewear set includes a cloak cape with arm hole slit openings, gathered sculptured shoulders with padding underneath, a quilted stitch high band collar, carved butterscotch bakelite bow clasp closure at the neck and is unlined. The cape measures 29 inches long, with a 44 inch chest, 48 inch waist and 19 inch back shoulders. Included is a matching fabric two piece suit with a tailored jacket, colorful stripe design detail on the front, padded shoulders, long tapered sleeves, burgundy carved plastic button closures down the front, a peplum fitted skirted waist with belt loops (missing belt) and is unlined. The jacket measures 20 inches long, with a 34 inch chest, 28 inch waist, 20 inch long sleeves and a 14 inch back. There is a long fitted pencil skirt has a bottom front pleat, a burgundy button closure on each side of the waist, is unlined and has a "Schank Sportswear Salt Lake City, Utah" label sewn inside. The skirt measures 28 inches long, with a 28 inch waist and 36 inch hips. It is in good condition, with only some slight wear faint discoloration on the fabric and a few frayed pulls, tiny holes on the skirt (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful rare piece of tailored leisurewear sportswear knitwear sets wearable art!
