Kutani-yaki Sake Set: Dragon Design in Underglaze Blue with Red and Gold Accents (Kutani Kōgai Kiln) – Includes 2 Sake Flasks and 5 Cups
Thank you for viewing this listing.
This is a Kutani-yaki sake set featuring a dragon motif painted in underglaze blue.
I acquired this set from an antique shop, and it is said to date back to the late Taisho era.
The original box is not included.
Please note that on one of the sake flasks, the paint on the pupil of the dragon's left eye has worn off (as shown in the photos); I was unable to repair this, so please understand this condition before purchasing.
Since the underglaze blue designs are hand-painted rather than transfer-printed, each flask and cup has unique variations that make them interesting to compare.
Approximate dimensions:
Flasks: Height 12.5 cm (4.9 in), body diameter 6 cm (2.4 in), mouth diameter 2.5 cm (1.0 in), base diameter 5 cm (2.0 in).
Cups: Height 3.5 cm (1.4 in), mouth diameter 5.5 cm (2.2 in), base diameter 3 cm (1.2 in).
