This highly collectible time capsule piece was produced to commemorate the historic December 20, 1999, handover of Macau from the Portuguese Republic to the People's Republic of China, ending over 400 years of European colonial rule. To mark this monumental transition, a small variety of souvenir "sports watches" were manufactured in limited quantities.

The front watch face prominently features the iconic ruins of St. Paul's (Macau's most famous landmark) alongside traditional Chinese text reading "回歸首年紀念" (Commemorating the First Anniversary of the Return). Surrounding the outer dial, key historic milestone years leading up to the 1999/2000 transition are meticulously inscribed. The stainless steel caseback is officially stamped with the 5-star Lotus flower emblem—the official regional flag of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR)—and marked with the year "2001".
