BUCK’S STATEMENT:

Before plastic containers and modern supermarket packaging became commonplace, American grocery shelves were filled with beautifully designed glass jars and bottles that often became useful household keepsakes long after their original contents were gone. Honey was no exception, and this wonderful vintage Lake Shore Honey jar captures the charm of an era when even an everyday pantry staple came packaged in distinctive, reusable glass. With its geometric honeycomb pattern, softly rounded shoulders, and embossed advertising lettering, this old jar is a nostalgic reminder of neighborhood grocery stores, country kitchens, and the golden age of American food packaging.

This original vintage clear glass honey jar features embossed “Lake Shore Honey” advertising above an attractive raised honeycomb pattern covering much of the front. The rectangular body has rounded shoulders, a short neck, and a wide, raised glass rim originally intended for a closure. The bottom features embossed U.S. patent information and a manufacturer’s mark. The jar is believed to date to the early-to-mid 20th century and reflects the geometric styling popular during the Art Deco era. It is being offered without its original lid or closure. The glass shows age-related wear, including scattered surface marks, light scratches, and areas of discoloration or residue, particularly around the mouth and lower portions of the jar. A charming addition to a vintage advertising glass collection, antique grocery store display, farmhouse kitchen, or collection of historic American food packaging.
