The Vintage Series, a popular line of D-28 guitars, featured a more user-friendly design compared to pre-war models. It incorporates features found in pre-war specifications, such as forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing, herringbone trim with ivoroid binding, diamond and square fingerboard inlays, butterbean-type tuners, a long saddle, a 42.9mm nut width, a V-shaped neck, and a tortoiseshell pickguard.
This particular HD-28V, manufactured in 2004, boasts a very rare and beautiful flame maple neck. It has undergone repairs for binding detachment in the past.
The neck has a slight upward bow, but there are no dead spots. The truss rod has plenty of adjustment range.
String height at the 12th fret is approximately 3.0mm on the 6th string side and 2.6mm on the 1st string side. Saddle height is approximately 3.2mm on the 6th string side and 2.9mm on the 1st string side.
As you can see from the images, there is some play wear, including discoloration, scratches and scuffs commensurate with its age, fret wear, and fingerboard abrasion. A genuine hard case is included.
