Description: A beautiful antique German solid silver cake/pie server with relief decorations featuring cherubs or putti and an ornate handle.
Quite heavy - it weighs almost 2 oz, so I believe it was cast, not hammered or stamped. Nice cherub/putti figures made in the typical late Biedermeier style of the 1840-1850s.
It is marked with a German 835 silver purity mark and a manufacturer's mark for Christoph Widmann, a silversmith shop in Pforzheim established in 1818.
The server is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. Some very minimal age-related wear.
It weighs 1.9 oz or 54 grams. With the current silver scrap price of $57 per oz, my starting price is below scrap value.
It is 8" long.
